Open-Edition Prints

Open-Edition prints are not limited in their print run. They are printed on pre-cut standard-sized archival Epson printing papers and will not be signed. Images, of course, are not cropped to fit these standard sizes. For some images, this will result in no excess non-printed space, for others, most notably panoramas, a great deal of non-printed space in the final print will result.

As an example, if an image with an aspect ratio of 2:1 were to be printed on 17"x22" paper, the final actual printed surface would be 21" x 10.5" (1/2 " border on the print). As can be seen, the largest side of the paper restricts the size of the final print.

Limited-Edition Prints

Limited Edition prints are limited in the number of prints that will ever be produced. The size of the print run depends upon the size of the print but will range from 400 pieces for the 12" x ... prints to a scant 25 pieces for the 36" x ... prints. When the print run, for a particular-sized image, reaches its conclusion, no additional limited-edition prints of that size will ever be produced. Thereafter, those prints may only be obtained in the aftermarket.

Each print will be signed, numbered, and dated. In addition, a certificate of authenticity will accompany it which will include the print's title and details of the print that may be required by an archivist in the future.

There will be no "empty" space on a Limited-Edition print because these are printed on rolled paper. What this means to you is that a print's size will not be constrained by the size of the paper.

As an example, if an image with an aspect ratio of 2:1 were to be printed at 16" x ... on roll paper, the final actual printed image size would be 32"x16". While the Open-Edition 17"x22" print and the Limited-Edition 16"x... may appear to be the nearly the same, you can see that the Limited-Edition print may be quite a lot larger - it depends upon the aspect ratio of the image.

Each Limited Edition print will start at a base price and will increase by a fixed increment as each print is sold. Due to their increased size, a panoramic print with an aspect ratio greater than 16:9 will be 50% higher than those shown in the tables.
